"The Palácio de São Bento is a neoclassical palace located in Lisbon, Portugal, and has been the seat of the Parliament of Portugal since 1834. It was originally built in the late 16th century as a Benedictine monastery (Mosteiro de S. Bento da Saúde) by Baltazar Álvares, and features a Mannerist and Baroque style.
The monastery was deconsecrated in 1833, following the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal, and the building was subsequently converted into a parliament building. The first session of the Cortes Gerais (the Portuguese parliament) was held in the Palácio de São Bento on January 23, 1834.
The Palácio de São Bento has been the site of many important events in Portuguese history, including the proclamation of the Portuguese Republic in 1910 and the Carnation Revolution in 1974. The palace is also home to a number of important works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and tapestries."

"São Bento Palace is a historic building located in Lisbon, which houses the Portuguese Parliament. Originally built in the 16th century as a Benedictine monastery, it was later transformed into the royal residence and later the seat of parliament. With its impressive architecture, the palace features neoclassical elements and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Besides being an important political centre, São Bento Palace is also a historical and cultural treasure. It is possible to visit some of its areas and exhibitions, such as the Salão Nobre and the Galeria dos Presidentes. It is a significant place that unites history, politics and architecture in Lisbon."
