"A weekly market takes place here every Wednesday and Saturday. It is very busy between fruits, vegetables and fish and we have enough supplies for our stay here. You can park for free at the Agora and walk up through the old town to the Kastro. From here you have a fantastic view over Kalamata to the harbor. The entrance to the Kastro currently costs about 2 euros. Under the castle hill it goes into the old town. This district is traffic-calmed and shows its cozy side. Our tour leads past the beautiful Ypapanti Church to the "Platia 25. Martiou" Square. Opposite the Archaeological Museum of Messenia is probably the oldest souvlaki stall in the city. “Souvlakia o Tzimis” is a true icon of Kalamata. A short stop is worth it, because the chicken skewers with homemade fries are simply delicious! Right next to it is the small Byzantine Church of the Holy Apostles. In the alleys that branch out, you will also find numerous cafes and taverns, music bars and small shops. A visit to Kalamata is also worthwhile in the evening."

"An interesting place to enjoy your souvlaki. It's located next to the church in the historical city center of the city. "
