"Fortified atop the Vistula River at the south end of the Old Town. The Wawel Cathedral and Castle complex is nearly 1000 years old and a national sanctuary.
The Cathedral itself is unique because of the domes, Sigismunds (Gold), and Vasa Dynasty (to the left).
Some of the oldest buildings can be traced back to 970 CE.
Now it's the coronation site, and burial site for some of Poland's most notable religious figures. "

"The Wawel Cathedral is the royal cathedral! It holds centuries of royalty, with many getting their own alcove in a different style.
The clock tower also gives you the best view of Krakow! Climbing is included in the entry ticket.
It's part of the royal castle complex but with a separate ticket. "

"The area surrounding the castle and cathedral of Wawel was one our favourites, lovely to sit and take in your surroundings. You can also visit inside the cathedral either by purchasing your own ticket or by going as part of a pre-booked guided tour."
