Danish King's Garden

"The Danish King's Garden's past is intertwined with the city's medieval chapter. In 1219, King Valdemar II of Denmark, leading a powerful fleet, invaded Tallinn. The conquest, however, wasn't a bloody affair. The legend goes that the Estonian defenders, on the verge of defeat, witnessed a miraculous sight: a red cloth, resembling the Danish flag (Dannebrog), descending from the heavens. This divine intervention, according to the tale, turned the tide of the battle in favor of the Danes. Every year, on June 15th, the Danish King's Garden comes alive with the celebration of Dannebrog Day, the national flag day of Denmark. This event fosters cultural exchange and strengthens the long-standing ties between Estonia and Denmark. Visitors can experience traditional Danish music, food, and festivities during this vibrant celebration."
