"Open daily. Morning departures from Cairns at 8:30am and 9:30am. Afternoon departures from Kuranda at 2pm and 3:30pm.
The Kuranda Scenic Railway experience is a 37 km rail journey onboard authentic vintage carriages through the Barron Gorge National Park (World Heritage-listed rainforest – The Wet Tropics) from Cairns to Kuranda, a village in the rainforest.
The track rises 327 metres above sea level, travelling over 55 bridges, and through 98 curves and 15 hand carved tunnels.
Audio commentary is available in each carriage to provide travellers with historic information throughout the journey. A complimentary trip guide (available in 11 languages) includes a map of the journey to match the onboard commentary.
Onboard Guest Services Attendants are available to answer questions and assist during your journey. Kuranda Scenic Railway also provides extensive information and caters well for accessible travellers.
