What people say

Nally Preseault
"As you drive into Siglufjörður, you can't miss a large, olive-colored building that sits right on the water. It's Sigló Hótel. When the boutique hotel opened in 2017, it finally gave both the town and the entire Troll Peninsula a great place to stay. The first thing you'll notice are the views. The hotel overlooks the mountains, the fjord, and the boat-filled harbor. The classically decorated rooms have wood floors, window seats or balconies, and modern bathrooms. The lobby has a cozy lounge (velvet furniture and a gas fireplace), help-yourself coffee, and a small bar. The elegant restaurant, Sunna, focuses on seafood (a lovely breakfast is also served here in the morning). While outside, there's a geothermally heated pool and sauna that are open all year. It's the perfect place to decompress after a long hike or a day of skiing. Sigló Hótel has made Siglufjörður a true destination instead of a quick stopover."
"Set in a picturesque fishing village surrounded by mountains and overlooking the sea, Siglo Hotel by Keahotels is a top rated hotel in the North of Iceland. It has a delightful sauna and outdoor geothermal pool which overlooks the bay so if you're heading to this area this is the best place to stay in this budget range."

Mentioned in these guides

Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best.
