"The Yak Lake House is one of 2 popular hostels in Bacalar and from my time there and speaking to other travellers, it is the preferred of the two.
They have different types of accommodation such as private rooms, mixed dorms or male/female dorms, each of different sizes.
The rooms are spacious and clean, but be aware they over look the famous lake, but therefore they also overlook the bar so at night it can be very moist, especially when there is a full moon as they always host full moon parties (a lot of fun and shouldn't be missed).
The hostal is situated in a great location, obviously on the lake, but also walking distance to anywhere in town.
Thye have a bar and great activities on offer such as art nights, pizza nights, and sunrise paddleboarding for hostel guests. They also offer discounted prices for lake activities such as sailing on the lagoon. "

"I didn't stay here because I was under the impression it would be a party hostel when in fact it only has the big weekly party on a Wednesday (don't make the same mistake as me lol) When I came here for the Wednesday party the grounds are gorgeous with direct access to the lagoon and they seem to host good activities too."
