"One of the places you have to visit in the Dolomites is Alpe di Siusi! This wicked pretty meadow is one of the most iconic places and definitely worth the day trip!
Getting there can be a bit tricky so here are a few options:
1) BY CAR – To reach this high meadow by car, you have to drive up a winding mountain road.
But the mountain road leading up to Alpe di Siusi is guarded and you can’t drive up between 9AM and 5PM.
So if you want to visit Alpe di Siusi by car you either have to drive up before 9AM or after 5PM.
The only exception is if your hotel is located on Alpe di Siusi. In that case you will get a special permit from you hotel that allows you to drive up at any time of day but only on the day of your check-in! You are then only allowed to drive straight to your hotel, you are not allowed to go cruising in Alpe di Siusi or to drive to a vantage point.
Driving back down is possible at any time of day!
PARKING – There are several parking lots in the town of Compatsch where you can leave your car for the day. Parking is €18 (you can only pay for a full day) and it’s to be paid in cash. Don’t worry if you don’t have any cash with you cause there is an ATM only 100 meters away.
2) BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT – If you want to reach Alpe di Siusi by public transport you’ll have to do a combination of taking the bus and a cable car.
From Bolzano you take bus 170 (€4) and after 44 minutes he’ll drop you off at the Seiser Alm Bahn where a two-way ticket will cost you €18.
The cable car Summer Season of 2021 runs from 21 May to 2 November 2021 with opening hours from 8AM to 6PM."
