"A weekend trip to Huacachina offers an exhilarating escape into Peru's desert oasis, renowned for its natural beauty and thrilling activities.
Especially recommended in the months of August / September where you won't see any sun in Lima La Gris.
Highlights:
Scenic Desert Oasis:
Huacachina boasts a breathtaking setting amidst towering sand dunes and a tranquil lagoon, creating a picturesque backdrop for relaxation under the sun and adventure.
Adventurous Activities:
Visitors can indulge in adrenaline-pumping experiences such as sandboarding down the dunes or exploring the desert landscape on thrilling dune buggy rides (highly recommended just before sunset...the desert sunsets are on another level in my opinion).
Relaxing Atmosphere:
Beyond its adventurous spirit, Huacachina offers moments of tranquility. Whether lounging by the lagoon/pool, riding a boat on the lagoon or witnessing a stunning sunset over the desert, there are plenty of opportunities to unwind.
Cultural Exploration:
Immerse yourself in the local culture of Huacachina, a small and welcoming community known for its hospitality and traditional Peruvian cuisine. Sample local dishes and interact with friendly residents to learn more about their way of life.
Nightlife and Social Scene:
After dark, Huacachina transforms into a vibrant hub with lively bars and restaurants, creating an atmosphere where travelers can unwind and mingle with fellow adventurers.
Exploring Huacachina promises a memorable weekend filled with adventure, relaxation, adventure and cultural immersion.
Pro Tip: If you happen to book a tour to a nearby lagoon, don't *I highly recommend* just DON'T swim in a lagoon as it can contain toxic blue algae which will lead to major stomach issues.
Pro Tip 2: If you like parties, I recommend you stay at Wild Rover Hostel. It is THE party hostel in Huacachina. But don't worry even if you dont stay in this hostel, you can join their parties/events "

"Huacachina is a tiny desert oasis near Ica, Peru. Again, not a whole lot going on here other than a few tourist shops and restaurants that we were able to explore before starting our dune buggy tour and sandboarding. The tour itself was a blast but be prepared to be very sandy and potentially bruised by the time it is finished."
