Rhonda Glisson
"Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is the only caisson- style light station in the United States that visitors can walk to. Located on the breakwater at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, the lighthouse has been an integral part of the history of Portland harbor and Casco Bay since 1897. It was listed on the National Historic Register in 1988. Would have loved to have gone to this wonderful lighthouse, but time didn't allow it. We were able to see and grab some pictures from our lobster boat tour. "

"Free parking. Can get real up-close to this light house and look out at the ocean while standing on the rocks. Another beautiful and worthwhile visit for photography and ocean lovers "
"Great spot for views of both the lighthouse and Fort Gorges. Another nice picnic spot. You'll drive through the Southern Maine Community College campus to get to Spring Point."
