Valladolid

Valladolid was one of my favourite places to visit during my time in Mexico. It is a little Mexican village where you will get out of the touristy destinations and see some of Mexico for how it really is. 
It is also a main stop for people on their way to see the famous Chichen Itza. 
I would recommend staying in Valladolid for 1 or 2 nights, to have time to go to Chichen Itza and time to explore the local area. 
Valladolid is easily accessible by bus from most locations however going from Tulum is easiest. 

The most charming town which displays the culture and heritage. Unfortunately as part of the tour we only spent 30minutes here (so grateful to have even had 30minutes here!) but if you have the time I would recommend to stay a night or two here as it really feels so authentic and like another world, from the beautifully designed church to the natives performance in the local park .

Day trip to Valladolid - a beautiful Mexican city with colorful buildings, a baroque-style cathedral, and excellent food. Perfect stop on your way to Chichen Itza. I highly recommend eating at Las Campanas right by the city square - the guacamole will blow your mind! So fresh. 

A gorgeous little town known for its stunning colours and architecture. It also has a few great cenotes. We stopped at Cenote Oxman and it had a great rope swing and stunning water.

Second favorite place of the trip. This city is wonderful, many colors, old houses, monuments.
Take a walk on the color street and have a coffee while shopping local 🤩 

Valladolid can be considered as the small sister of Mérida, as it is very alike, but in a smaller size. 

It is a nice alternative if you don't stay in Mérida. 

It is a beautiful colonial city that is still somewhat of a hidden gem on the Yucatan Peninsula.
