What people say

"Once considered relatively off the map to anyone except locals and other Italians, Eater has since recently named Cesari one of Bologna’s 18 essential restaurants. It is a great central location near the historic city center yet has the feeling of a private home. Housed in a 100-year-old building with a storied history, Cesari was once a meeting place for Italian wine merchants who arrived in carrozze (carriages) until the site was reborn in 1939 as a modest osteria, selling wine and sandwiches. You will find a nice mix of regular patrons and tourists here plus great down home cooking. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance - by phone only! Closed on Sundays. "

"If you only eat one meal in Bologna, eat here! Order the tortellini in brodo, along with a local bottle of Lambrusco."
Judy Francini
"all the old school classics."
