This guide is based on my trip and what I did when I visited this area.

I came here during summer, but most of the activities can be done all year round. If you are looking for skiing suggestion, this guide is not for you.

My friends and I traveled by car, so the guide has been written accordingly. You can still find this guide interesting if you plan to bike around or come by camper or caravan as there are also suggestions of what to do and where to eat. If you plan to use public transportation, this is not covered in this guide.

This guide contains activities for 3 full days: from Pragser Wildsee Lake (Lago di Braies) to Marmolada, from 3 Peaks (3 Cime di Lavaredo) to Misurina Lake.

At the end you will also find a link to useful tour for looking for other trail suggestions o to build up your own itinerary.

Whether you are traveling alone, with your family or you couple, or with a group of friends, you will find fun and easy activities that can be done by everybody. 

You will get an interactive map (with more than 50 places) that includes everything you need for a full 3 days trip to this region. If you don't have that much time, you can choose what you'd like to do & come back again to do the rest! 

It includes details for hikes and activities, view points, food & drink, and I have even done some research for you by including extra accommodation and restaurant options.

3 Days Hike in the Dolomites

The natural beauty and scenic location of Lake Braies have made it one of the most photographed and iconic spots in the Dolomites. 

However, due to its increasing popularity, it's important to respect environmental regulations and local rules to preserve the natural beauty of the area. 

You can hike around the lake, rent a boat or just chill in the area. Depending on the season, you have to pay for parking and the regulations and prices change year by year.

Also known as Lago di Braies, this is a MUST SEE on your trip to the Dolomites. While it is a bit more touristy than the rest, it is more easily accessible and absolutely stunning. 

Unlike many other lakes in the Dolomites, such as Lago di Carezza, you are actually allowed to swim in Lago di Braies. The only thing, it is freezing, so be prepared!

The AV1 begins at the far side of the lake. Definitely plan to stay here, at Hotel Pragser Wildsee, before the hike. The hotel website says there is a 3 night minimum, but they were happy to accommodate us for two nights pre hike. It was nice to enjoy the quiet lake in the late afternoon after all the day tourists have left. 

A must see in Dolomites! 
You do not need to hike to get to the lake. We parked at P3 car park, which is the closest car park from the lake. 

Parking fee: The first 15 minutes of visit is free. Pricing varies depending on arrival time and type of vehicle. We paid 12 EUR for spending roughly 3 hours + there.

Lago Di Braies may be the most popular location in the Dolomites. I suggest coming here for sunrise to beat the crowds. You’ll also have to pay for parking. You can also go on a complete loop around the lake and it is a beautiful hike. Lago di Braies is situated about an hour away from Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Stunning lake in the middle of the Dolomites! It may be recognizable because it’s one of the most photographed spots in the area. Highly recommend a trip out here, especially for hiking! 

Although it’s been over Instagrammed, this lake really was pretty. You can take a long walk around it and if it isn’t too cold dip your toes!

Lago di Braies: A stunning alpine lake nestled in the Dolomites, known for its turquoise waters and breathtaking mountain backdrop.

Go early to avoid the crowds and make sure you take a stroll around the lake, it's beautiful from all angles!
