Welcome to my 6-day road trip itinerary around the beautiful country of Jordan. 🇯🇴 I share my top tips for road-tripping in Jordan, general country information, as well as my detailed day-by-day itinerary with top attractions to see, places to stay, and food to try. 

I personally took this trip in September 2022 - starting and ending in Amman - and my goal was to maximize my time and see all that the country had to offer.  

This trip includes a mix of history and culture, famous food, and outdoor desert exploration.

Driving from Amman to Aqaba you will explore the rich history of Jordan, including a visit to the iconic, centuries old, hand crafted Treasury in Petra. With more than 20 stops and things to do along the way, this guide will save you days of planning and researching. Based off our trip in May of this year, which was years in the making, we have used our experiences and what we wish we knew to create this mobile friendly itinerary. (The itinerary is also great for singles/couples or small groups).

Egypt & Jordan - considered two unbelievable wonders of the world - provide thousands of years of history.

This 14-day itinerary has been put together based on a group trip I led for clients back in 2022. It was my 2nd time to Egypt and my first-time to Jordan - both countries should definitely be visited.

The itinerary is set-up in a way that you could separate out each country if your schedule only allows for minimal travel days. So in essence, you get 2 country itineraries for the price of 1! 

Throughout you will experience a dramatic world beyond what you can think, as you enter into two countries filled with legends, history, and indescribable natural beauty. 

The itinerary includes a visit to the famous Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx and includes a 4-night Nile River Cruise.

In Jordan, you will visit Petra, the “Rose Red City” that appears as if it emerged straight from the rock bed. Admire the ethereal landscape of the desert city of Wadi Rum, the “Valley of the Moon.” And, indulge at a deluxe spa resort on the Northern shore of the Dead Sea. 

We have also added in some key tours, unique experiences and the opporutinity to delve into the culture and flavours of these lands. Hundreds of thousands of years of history and iconic wonders, delicious cuisine, and stretching sunsets fading against the desert horizon – this is Egypt and Jordan.

When I travel, I seek destinations where I can go on excursions, meet new people, be immersed in the culture, and feel safe as a Black woman traveling solo. 

The Middle East has always been one of my favorite regions to explore and Jordan had always been on my bucket list because I’d heard not only of its world wonders but the world-class hospitality of the people who live there.

On this trip, I had more once-in-a-lifetime experiences than I can even count AND I felt extremely safe the entire time. Again: as a Black, solo female traveler, that's an incredibly important and sometimes difficult thing to find!

4 Day Jordan Road Trip

Jordan isn't typically considered a destination for a long weekend. You can't explore its vast wonders in just a few days, right?

We faced this exact dilemma a few months ago and wanted to make the most of our time.

Here's our advice on seeing many of Jordan's incredible sights, including Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea, in just 72 hours.

We're not claiming you can see it all, but if three days is all you have, you can pack in some of the best experiences Jordan has to offer.

Jordan in 3 Days

There are so many ways to explore Petra and it can be a tough outing on kids. Head over to our "Petra half day with kids" Board for a detailed guide to help keep the whinging to a minimum. 
🕵🏽‍♂️ We do recommend a guide for Petra. There is so much to see, that you may otherwise miss. A guide will also give you the in-depth history of Petra.
❗️Note that your guide will leave you at the Temple to go solo.

Use our Petra half day guide to keep the kids engaged and see who can spot the next site on the map first. Who can pick the spot and name the movie for a famous scene filmed in Petra with Harrison Ford?

Hikes on the main site + little Petra + Petra by night (the night is not included in the Jordan pass or Petra pass, quite expensive and ultra touristic, I do not necessarily recommend). 
Be sure to have good shoes, a hat and sunscreen because you will quickly walk between 10 and 20km per day. There are restaurants on site and bathrooms. 

Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking rose-red rock-cut architecture. Walk through the iconic Al-Siq, leading to the stunning Treasury. Fact: Petra's structures were carved directly into the vibrant pink sandstone.

Wadi Musa is the little town where you can find Petra. There's not much here other than the world wonder, so we just recommend one day in the town. 

The highlight of not only my Jordan trip, but of my entire travels. Petra is incredible, and definitely lives up to the hype!
