Masaya Volcano

"Masaya Volcano is the most active volcano in Nicaragua. From peering over this volcano, you can witness the luminous lava bubbling beneath whilst the fumes rise up. Here you will learn about the sacrifices that the indigenous tribes would make to try and calm the volcano down. Previously, there was another active volcano here which is now dormant and full of flaura which is intersesting to see the contrast. This is around 30/40 minutes from the center of Granada. You can book this tour through your hostel/ tour companies/ online - I paid around 24Dollars for this through the hostel I stayed at which included transport to and from Masaya Volcano and a guided tour (May23) ."

"Masaya Volcano (also called "the mouth of Hell") is an active volcano just a quick drive from the city, and it's pretty breathtaking. Most tours will go right around sunset so that you can actually see the lava glowing inside the crater, which is insane. The energy is really powerful, even on days where the visibility is less than perfect. Another cool thing about Masaya Volcano is how important it is—and always has been— to the local indigenous people. It has a powerful historical significance and it's a major part of their spiritual and cultural practices."
