"The Astor Street District reflects the fashionable architectural styles built by Chicago's wealthy families over a period of more than 60 years. This townhouse rest- dance was built in 1929 and designed by noted architects Holabird and Root in the Arl-Deco style. When the current owners purchased the property twelve years ago, the building had been converted into smaller apartments, and the façade significantly deteriorated. TheAstor Street District was designated as a Chicago Landmark on April 18, 1985."
