What people say

"About 15 kilometres from the city, on the slopes of Sierra Morena, is the Desierto de Nuestra Señora de Belén, where the Las Ermitas complex stands. Founded in the 18th century by Brother Francisco de Jesús, this was a place of hermitage retreat since the Middle Ages. The first construction was built in 1703. The complex is made up of thirteen cells or hermitages that have been run by the Discalced Carmelites since 1957. Within the complex there is a magnificent viewing point presided over by the monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a work carried out in 1929 by Lorenzo Coullaut Valera. From this place you can get a wonderful view of Córdoba and part of the Vega del Guadalquivir."
