What people say

"Personally, this is my favorite of the main palaces in Seoul :) It is available to enter for free if you wear a Hanbok (Korean traditional gown) and there are free guided tours available (English: twice a day). I recommend also exploring the Secret Gardens attached to the Palace which requires an extra ticket. To visit the Gardens you have to be part of a guided tour which is available in English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. Opening times:  Nov-Jan 09:00-17:30 (Last admission 1 hour before closing) Feb-May/ Sep-Oct 09:00-18:00 Jun-Aug 09:00-18:30 Closed on Mondays Fee Adult ₩3,000 + 5,000 for Secret Garden Guided Tour Closest Subway Station:  Anguk Station Exit 3 (follow the main street for 10ish minutes) "
"Changdeokgung Palace, established in 1405 as Korea's second royal villa, served as a principal residence for many Joseon dynasty kings. It's renowned for being the best-preserved among Seoul's five royal palaces. The palace includes public and royal family residence areas, along with a famed rear garden featuring a 300-year-old tree, a pond, and a pavilion. Kdramas filmed here: Joseon Attorney (2023) The Red Sleeve (2021-22) The King's Affection (2021) Kingdom I & II (2019, 2020) Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019) The Crowned Clown (2019) Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (2016) The Royal Gambler (2016) Rooftop Prince (2012) Jewel in the Palace (2003-04)"

"Changdeokgung Palace is a grand royal residence located east of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is the best preserved of the remaining Joseon palaces. If you visit this spot during autumn you’ll get to enjoy sprawling gardens with picturesque ponds and pavillions painted in gold and red. To add to your trip I recommend adding a traditional hanbok experience and have your photos taken with a gorgeous background of the fall foliage and palace."
