"The main square in Skopje is right in the city centre. From there you can walk along the river and admire all the neo-classical and baroque. They might look historical and impressive however they were built in 2014 as a try to rebrand the city. Indeed, they brought a lot of attention to Skopje but unfortunately not in the way intended. Skopje quickly became became Europe’s new capital of kitsch. "

"Macedonia Square is the bustling heart of Skopje, surrounded by statues, fountains, and impressive architecture. Dominated by the massive “Warrior on a Horse” statue, which symbolizes Alexander the Great, the square is a lively spot for gatherings, events, and people-watching. With cafés and shops nearby, Macedonia Square captures the spirit of Skopje’s modern energy and historical pride."

"Probably the most photographed area in Skopje, this place is huge.
There are lots of sculptures and beautiful buildings nearby. You will find the famous Alexander the Great statute here.
A lot of free walking tours start from here and I would recommend doing one (I went with Free Skopje Walking Tours and it did not disappoint) "
