"At the heart of the picturesque central square on the Presqu'île stands a magnificent 19th-century fountain, crafted from an impressive 21 tonnes of lead and masterfully sculpted by none other than Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, renowned for his iconic Statue of Liberty. This splendid fountain features four majestic horses pulling a chariot, symbolizing the rivers racing towards the sea, evoking a sense of movement and vitality.
On the eastern side of the square stands the Hôtel de Ville, originally constructed in 1655 and later adorned with its current elaborate facade in 1702. Adding a modern touch to the square's ambiance is Daniel Buren's whimsical 'forest' of 69 granite fountains, playfully embedded into the ground, creating an enchanting atmosphere for visitors to enjoy."
