Visiting Kotor, Montenegro? This small but charming city makes for the perfect day trip.

I chose to visit Kotor after spending a few weeks on the coast of Croatia. Kotor's Old Town is similar to Split and Dubrovnik, but what is unique is Kotor is on the coast of Kotor Bay, which is a lake in-between mountains - it's beautiful. Kotor is quite small and honestly you can knock it out in a day. Have more time? 2-3 days can be a nice getaway, but anything more than that expect to just spend some time on the water relaxing. Kotor is also a great spot to start a roadtrip - Tivat has a major airport and the roads can be easy to drive, so if you do have more time on your hands a roadtrip around the country could be for you.

Anyways, after two weeks here I can give you the best itinerary for a few days...

I went here EVERY SINGLE DAY. My go-to's are the Espresso Tonic. Elderflower Lemonade (just one among 7 different types of lemonade), and the hazelnut brownie.

La Catedrale Pasta Bar

I ate here several times, my go-to being the Pear and Gorgonzola pasta which only costs 8 Euros and is super filling. Lunch you can walk in, but for dinner I would opt in for a reservation.

Fun Fact: Kotor is sprawling with cats and many souvenir shops have a multitude of cat themed merch. You will also find a ton of designer knock off stores.

Looking for a place to stay?

If you are a cruise person, this is a huge port. Looking to stay in Old Town? I opted for this cute Airbnb that was perfect for a solo traveler:

Want to squeeze in Kotor to your Adriatic Sea trip? You can do a day trip via boat from Dubrovnik or take a Flix Bus (2 hour drive).
