Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette French Quarter Area Hotel

Great location to the cable cars, close to Bourbon Street, but not so close that you can't escape the rowdiness. Walking distance to many places on this itinerary. Clean and safe.

After getting settled in your hotel, take an uber over to Frenchman Street. Walk around the Frenchman Street Art Bazaar - open 7pm-midnight Sunday- Wednesday and until 1am on the weekends. Grab drinks and eats and listen to live music as you walk up and down the streets.

Bourbon Street
@valerielamberton
A trip to New Orleans isn't complete without a walk down Bourbon street. Start at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar (the oldest bar in the US) then work you way down Bourbon street. Pace yourself, drink water, have appetizers, and enjoy the live music.

Cafe Du Monde
@valerielamberton
Open 24 hours - and it gets PACKED. Go early to help avoid the lines. Best beignets ever! Worth the wait. Pro tip - if you really don't feel like waiting in line, there is one at the airport which to my experience doesn't have nearly as long a line.

Saint Charles Streetcar Line Spur
@valerielamberton
Take the street car up to magazine street and the Garden District. Walk around the Garden District to view many of the mansions including the childhood home of Peyton and Eli Manning. Then walk around Layfette Cemetery (at the time I am publishing the cemetery is closed for renovations, but you can still walk around the outside). Street Car Fares - Buy a one-day jazzy pass for $3 through the RTA App.

The Carousel Bar & Lounge
@valerielamberton
Located by the French Quarter inside a boutique hotel, this is a fun nightcap environment. The Carousel actually rotates. Seating is limited so you have a wait - it's first come first serve seat yourself. There are is also table service if you don't want to sit at the bar. I recommend any of their champagne drinks and their expresso martini.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm a high school librarian who loves traveling. When school is not in session, I am out exploring new places and activities. I love paddleboarding, going to the beach, snowboarding, food and wineries and breweries. When I travel, I like to have a nice balance of bucket list checks- you know - all the touristy stuff, but I also love going off the beaten path and experiencing life like the locals. I want YOU to have those experiences too! I've lived in multiple places in Virginia most of my life, having spend the last 17 years in Fredericksburg, Va, so I am conveniently located close to everything Virginia has to offer.
