A Long Weekend In Prague
Day 1
From the airport to your accommodation grab a Bolt taxi or catch the subway for ease. Make sure to bring a backpack as you don't want to be dragging your suitcase along the cobblestones of the old town! I recommend VN3 Terrace Suites situated a 2-minute walk from the old town with cafés and bars a stone's throw away.
Take time to settle in to your room and then have a wander through the historic old town square. Make sure you see the astronomical clock move on the hour and grab a drink at Teresa U Prince Hotel rooftop bar just before dinner, as it gets busy later on in the evening, for a view of the entire old town.
Finally, end your evening with a cosy dinner at MeatEater with steak and wine, found along a side street of the old town. Then, head for a night cap at The Alchemist Bar speakeasy, making sure to avoid the tourist trap bars in the old town square where they can charge up to 20 euros for a cocktail.
Day 2
Get your walking sandals on and be prepared for a little self-led walking tour across Prague with plenty of stops at bars serving the classic Czech Pilsner Urquell. First head through the Jewish Quarter, making sure to stop for a Trdelník, a traditional Czech chimney cake commonly served with ice cream and nutella. Make your way with the delicious trdelník to the Municipial Library to sneek a look down and snap some pictures of the Infinity Book Tower.
Next, on your way back to the old town pass by the perplexing architecture of the Dancing House and the stunning National Museum of Prague. By now you must be hungry, so a must stop while in Prague is Las Adelitas, an authentic taquería situated in the basement of the heart of the old town. Scoff down some tacos and margaritas. If you need, make a pit stop at either beer garden, The Pub or U Kunštátů, for an affordable pint of craft beer.
After a long day of wandering the city of Prague return to the apartment to rest. Then, for dinner head out for a relaxed burger and a pint at Výtopna Railway restaurant in Wenceslas Square, where a functioning model railway set that wraps around the entire restaurant delivers your food. Sounds gimmicky but is actually very fun with great food and photo opportunities.
Day 3
Today it's time to explore the other side of the Vltava River, across from Charles Bridge. Have a slow stroll along the packed bridge, and when you reach the other side head up to Prague Castle for panoramic views of the whole city. Here you can see the Changing of the Guards ceremony that takes place daily at 12pm and the grand St Vitus Cathedral for free.
Make a pit stop while you're up there at St Wenceslas vineyard, a small winery that sells street food and local wine, for a cheeky glass of wine with a stunning view. Then, you can head back down to take pictures in front of the iconic Lennon Wall Mural and grab a padel for tasting local craft beers at The Beer Spot.
Once you've freshened up and are ready to head back out, head up for a round of cards and a couple of pre-dinner pints at Letna Park beer garden. This beer garden will not disappoint with 360 views of the city and shaded under the trees, as the sun sets. Make sure you return your plastic cups back to the bar for a refund!
