Tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Greenville is known as the cultural and entertainment center of the upcountry. Located about halfway between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC, this makes Greenville the perfect place to escape to enjoy time away from the metropolis, just steps from nature. Sprinkled with its southern charm, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Greenville.
Included in this guide you will find:

- Places to stay
- Where to eat
- Things to do, see, & shopping
- Family friendly activities
- A few day trip options from Greenville
With a local airport servicing many flights daily, flying in to Greenville is a convenient option. Alternatively, it is a very drivable city if you're coming from driving distance.
In town, ride share options are available for quick use. There is a free trolly that options stops along the main street area downtown. For those planning to do a bit of things more spread out, we do recommend renting a car at the airport or other local pick up spot. Parking ramps and on street parking are available throughout town.
Bike the city for a new point of view. You can take them on the local bike trail as well. This is a paid service. Follow all directions on the posted signs at the bike stations.

Where to Stay
With a variety of hotel and other local housing options, it is hard to go wrong. We would recommend a hotel or accommodation located near the downtown main street area. This makes walking to stores, restaurants and nightlife much easier to enjoy. We also would recommend staying downtown if you do not plan to rent a car.
Gorgeous downtown hotel with updated feel and modern amenities. Located near the waterfall and a short walk from multiple dinner spots, AC Greenville is the ideal destination to stay. With a reliable brand you know you are getting quality and comfort with your stay.

Where to Eat & Drink
Main Street in downtown Greenville has a wide array of food and drink options to explore in a centralized area. Wander down the road to discover your next food stop that will enchant your taste buds. This is by no means an all inclusive list of top spots. Truly there were so many locations we wanted to try during our visit but ran out of time this trip. All the more reason to come back and explore more!
New York Style Pizza and other good eats with a full service bar. At night on the weekends, they have a pizza walk up window for a late night bite to eat. Limited outdoor seating available.
Super neat food hall experience made out of shipping containers. So many different food options available making it the perfect spot for large groups or for groups with varying food tastes/preferences/allergies.
Upper level restaurant and bar space, great for larger groups or parties. Open air but not a full rooftop. Bar counter is huge with lots of space to mingle.
Great spot for breakfast (served all day!) and other pastry items. They have open mic comedy night every Monday at 7pm offered in their side room. Free to enjoy (disclaimer, the comedians are relatively new and change each week).
We didn't get the chance to go here during our visit but this one was high on the list to try. We loved the vibe of the coffee shop that we saw when passing by and think it would be worth it to check out.

When in doubt, if you're hungry late at night and unsure what to eat, there is a waffle house not far from downtown Greenville that we recommend as well.
Located near the river and waterfall park, this dessert cafe offers a wide range of smoothies, shakes, boozy ice cream mixes and delicious bakery items. They do offer a full service bar in addition to their dessert items.
Dessert restaurant where they really put a twist on the dining experience. Servers offer two different paths for interacting during your dessert experience.
Super cute rooftop cocktail lounge with fun drinks and small bites to eat. Indoor and out door seating is available. Nice place for special events or celebrating. Located on the roof of the AC hotel. Does have a general nicer dress code expectation. Enter from a side elevator near the CAMP plaza. One of our personal favorite spots.
High end surf and turf restaurant with a bar that has happy hour 4-6pm. Indoor and outdoor seating available. If you plan to dine here, we would recommend making a reservation.
N. Main Street has more stores to explore and each Friday, they host fun music events for the majority of the summer. Check out their schedule online for the full line up. We had a blast enjoying the free concert while in town. Seating is limited for this event. The street is blocked off for safety and a small number of vendors.
Super fun group fitness class designed to feel like a night out with friends than just a hard workout. They offer occasional special deals for new members. Offer a good variety of classes including Yoga, booty burn, Barre at the bar and all are beginner friendly. Enjoy a nice coffee or mimosa after your class with your girls to finish it off right!
An unique outing experience that includes mini putt-putt, ice curling, ax throwing and much more. See their full list of offerings on their website. Be sure to call ahead for large group reservations/parties.
Cute park with a suspension bridge that goes over the waterfall. Enjoy it from the air or from the nice walking paths that crisscross the park. Tons of green space to enjoy nature.
Home to the Greenville Drive Baseball team that has games typically from April - Early September. Check out their schedule online to catch a home game and cheer on the team. Great for family fun or a date night.
Home to special events, concerts, musicals, Disney on Ice, monster trucks and so much more! Check out their online schedule to see what is in town during your visit.
Public, outdoor splash pad space perfect for a quick way to cool off in the summer heat. Open seasonally.

Michigander at heart but currently traveling the world one week at a time for work. When not on the road and living out of my suitcase, I am down to spend the day exploring the local city scene or out hiking in nature. I am an adventurous spirit and try to maximize my free time exploring the hidden corners of whatever city I am in. I've been traveling all over the U.S. and Europe for nine years and crave authentic experiences at local hot spots (and sometimes the touristy faves). As a young and avid traveler (16 Countries, 45 U.S. States, 24 U.S. National Parks & numerous cities) my goal is to help you reach your travel goals - no matter the destination.
On Thatch, I create super detailed guides and itineraries to destinations that I've personally visited. These destinations have a little bit of everything that I love about travel (adventure, city life, great eats, beach days and more). I can also create custom guides and itineraries to wherever you may be dreaming of traveling to.
Top bucket list items: Ride in a hot air balloon, visit all 50 U.S. states, and someday be on the Amazing Race with my sister.
