There are a lot of fun things to do in Amsterdam but one of the best ways to see the city is by walking through the different neighborhoods. Here's what to expect from each of them!

Jordaan - This is the neighborhood that we stayed in and really enjoyed it. It had cute shops and restaurants, like this breakfast place that we really liked. This area is kind of like the "cool" area of Amsterdam with shops, cafes, and boutiques lining the streets.

Negen Straatjes - This is the shopping district known as 9 Streets. It is a fun area to walk around and just pop into different shops. Everything from flower shops to cute boutiques right on the canals!

De Pijp - The local's neighborhood, this area has adorable homes, fun street art, and cute little cafes. The Albert Cuypt Markt is also located in this neighborhood! This is a fun one to just walk around and explore.

De Wallen - Amsterdam's notorious Red Light District and a must-see when in Amsterdam. I mean, when in Rome. We walked around during the day for the first time and it really just seems like a bar street but went back at night when the street was alive. It was definitely a sight to behold and filled with drunk kids and bachelor parties but go see it in all of its crowning glory.

Oud-West - Kind of more of an off-the-beaten-path neighborhood, this area houses the De Hallen on Kinkerstraat (Food Hallen), a delicious kebap place, and the backside of Vondelpark.

Oud-Zuid - This area has most of the major museums including the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Moco Museum. There is also a big open area that had a big ice skating rink when we were there!

Amsterdam Centrum - The middle of the city is famous for the floating flower market (Bloemenmarkt) that was beautiful even in the winter so I can't even imagine what it would be like in the spring/summer. There were also some fun cheese shops (another Dutch staple) where you can taste samples for free that we popped into while we meandered through the city.
