Milano My Top 10 Activities and why
Hello everyone!
I got a Milano top 10 activities today :)
I was in Milano last year with my bff, we did an Interrail trip around Italy, and our first stop was the cute city of Milano. Now, what would I recommend? Check out what's next !
1 - How to get to Milano?
Plane, train, car drive, Milano is basically accessible from anywhere !
2 - How to get around the city?
So mostly, we walked a lot in the center, however our hotel was close to the train station, so we had to use public transport to go around. I would recommend getting a City Pass for the transport and main activities if you are there for at least 2 full days (it would be too expensive for just a day)
Here is the one I bought : Milano City Pass: Ingresso al Duomo e oltre 10 attrazioni | (bought on Tiqets)
Now, for activities, my Top 10 :
- Duomo (the cathedral)
which is included in the city pass! You actually have 2 entrances for this one: the first one in front, where you can enter the sacred place, and another one in the back, to take an elevator which brings you on the roof ! It's really nice up there, you'll see many decorations and statues, and have a great view on the city ;)
- Gallery of Victor Emanuele II
If you go to Milano, and you love shopping (or at least window shopping), you definitely have to go there! It's actually right next to the Duomo, so you can not miss it. Inside the Gallery, you have all the luxury brands (Prada, Gucci etc...) and around you will find different restaurants to eat at :)
- National Museum of Leonardo da Vinci
ok so this one is more about science and technology. It's actually a quite small inside museum, 5min from the cathedrale, where you'll discover all of Da Vinci's discoveries. You can try a few experiences, but it's mostly a place I would go for a school trip.
- Royal Palace
This is also right next to the cathedrale, but I didn't visit it since we didn't have the entrance with the pass. I think it's an art place so if you have some time check it out
- La Scala Theater
Ok, so I personally love visiting Theaters because I find them so beautiful. If you are a fan, definitely go in to take some cute pics. We loved it!
- Sforza Castel
The Castel is a 10minutes walk from the Duomo (you'll find that it's my center spot for this city haha) and is really nice, we had a great weather and inside the castel there is lots of grass space so we stopped to have a little picnic :)
Omg I loved this place. Milano has a river coming through the city, and when you go there, you will feel just like you're in Venicia ! It really looks the same, you have small bridges you can cross, and cute shops and gelateria on the borders :) My second favorite spot in this city !
- Pinacoteca di Brera
This is a library, an art school and an art museum at the same time :) When you enter you'll have to go to the first floor for the entrance of the museum, and if you are a bit early / or you want to spend some time there after your visit there is a little café where you can have a glass of wine and a sandwich if you happen to be hungry :) The architecture of the monument is very beautiful, we loved it ! Plus, we were there on the day of a street market (in front of the entrance) where we bought cute rings and some jewelry <3
- Santa Maria church
Really beautiful from the outside
- Sempione Parc
Cute parc to have a walk or picnic
Hotels you can stay at:
We stayed at 2 different hotels, one for our first stop, and then on the way back from Roma.
The first one was :
The second one, more of a budget friendly hotel, is close but a bit smaller.
They were both very clean and we trieds both breakfast. The first one had more choices of course since it's a brand and it was bigger but the second one was fine for one night.
I would otherwise recommend the followings according to clients feedback I got :
Bonus tips:
- If you come to Milano for a few days, you can have a day trip to "Lake Como" not far from the city, which is a cute spot
- The city is very clean and nice to walk in, we always felt safe as 2 girls in their twenties
- You'll be surprised to find the same tramway as in Lisbon ! Not all of them are yellow, they have different colors but the first one we saw was yellow and I had no idea haha, they seem a bit old with a huuuuge step to enter so careful if you have children or a hard time with stairs.
I hope you find my tips usefull, and if you have more questions you can ask me for a call I would love to help you :)
