Dog-Friendly guide to Cannes, France
Dog-Friendly guide to Cannes, France
The Points Plan
Cannes is a beautiful, sea-side city with plenty to do and even more restaurants to choose from. We visited in July and it was (predictably) hot!
- I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's pronounced "Can" not "Cans". I know, I've been saying it wrong for years too.
All recommendations come with this standard advice.
1. Do the activities/ touristy things early in the morning to both avoid the higher afternoon temperatures, as well as standing around in the heat because of the crowds of tourists.
2. Make a reservation! The restaurants are quaint; if they do have space, they will sit you inside after a super hot day with no air conditioning and you'll sweat it out in a corner.
3. Hydrate. 'Nuff said.

Île Saint-Honorat
@thepointsplan
This was so lovely. It's way too hot to walk around the city of Cannes with a dog. Even the pavement was too hot after 11am for our dog's toes.
Saint-Honorat offered a peaceful, shady retreat.
- Catch the ferry early.
- 18 euros per adult, dogs ride for free.
- Takes about 15-20 minutes each way and the boat leaves/ returns every hour.
- Bring plenty of water and make sure you dog does not drink too much salt water.
Go for a walk, and take a swim. The entire island is dog friendly *except* the church and the restaurant.
We took the 10am ferry over, walked for about 45 min and were ready to jump in the water.

Riviera Beach - Restaurant - Plage - Cannes
@thepointsplan
Call ahead and reserve some beach chairs here. They are 40 Euros each if you sit in the front row, or 30 if you sit further back. You get a chair and an umbrella and you can rent a towel if you need to at an additional charge (we always bring our own). We spent the afternoon here, enjoying the gentle waves and warm sand. This is a dog friendly spot, but we did not bring our dog here because we were worried he/ the sand would be too hot.

La Croisette - Cannes
@thepointsplan
Go for a little walk after dinner and take in the scenery along the water. Gawk at some of the yachts parked in the harbor too, that's fun.

Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes
@thepointsplan
The famous red carpet stairs of the Cannes film festival. Make sure you get here early because a line forms to take your instagram photos here. We got there right around 7:45am and had the place to ourselves.

Copenhagen Coffee Lab - Cannes, Blvd Carnot
@thepointsplan
We LOVE this place! The pastries are insanely good as well as the coffee. They have plenty of seating, inside and out. We walked/ drove down every morning for breakfast. It's perfectly located right next to a parking garage so if you're planning on spending the day in the heart of Cannes, then this spot is perfect.

Tredici
@thepointsplan
This place is a lot larger than expected and for good reason. The best wood fired pizza we've had! Make sure you make a reservation, they may have more tables, but the secret is out on the amazing food here.

La Guinguette Antibes
@thepointsplan
Technically not in Cannes, but Antibes is such a cute town it's worth a short drive. This place was more relaxed and had good food and plenty of room for our dog on their outdoor patio in the back.

Black Sails - A Pirate Tavern By Chef LeChat
@thepointsplan
One of the best burgers in France. I know most people don't go to France for the burgers, but this was such a fun change of pace. They also had a large beer selection. The burger was amazing and big enough to split with an appetizer.
