LAPLAND : Exploring Rovaniemi and the Arctic Circle!
Welcome to Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland, in northern Finland. It's a modern city known for being the "official" home town of Santa Claus, and for viewing the Northern Lights.
If you're looking for a quick breakfast or a warm drink visit the Espresso House in downtown Rovaniemi.
Snowmobile Safari: An Adrenaline-Fueled Ride
Our first activity in Lapland was a thrilling snowmobile safari. Decked out in our fashionable winter gear, we hit the snowy trails with excitement. As we zoomed through the forest, our guide explained that in Lapland, the right to explore nature is highly valued and respected. No fences or barriers hinder our snowmobiling adventures, allowing us to truly immerse ourselves in the beauty of the landscape.
Arctic Ice Floating: Floating like Lobsters
Next on our itinerary was an unforgettable Arctic ice floating experience. Clad in oversized suits, we transformed into floating lobsters ready to embrace the icy waters. The suits not only kept us afloat but also made us look quite comical! We had a blast as we bobbed on the frozen sea, enjoying the unique sensation of weightlessness. It was a truly surreal experience!
Santa's Village: A Date with the Jolly Man Himself
No trip to Lapland would be complete without a visit to Santa's Village, nestled within the Arctic Circle. As we arrived, darkness was beginning to descend, adding a touch of magic to the atmosphere.
Inside the enchanting post office, we discovered a delightful tradition - choosing a postcard to be sent this year or saved for next year, with a letter personally stamped by Santa. We were also captivated by the heartfelt letters written by children from all around the world. Crossing the Arctic Circle, we felt an indescribable connection to this special place.
We enjoyed spending time with the Huskies in the Village.
While at Santa's village we devoured the best salmon I've personally ever had! The queue is definitely worth the wait for this fresh salmon cooked on open fire served with Finnish salad and bread!
Santa Claus Village in Lapland is a popular place to cross the Arctic Circle: here the line is marked and it's fun to jump into the Arctic Circle!
Huskies and Reindeer: The True Stars of Lapland
Venturing further into Lapland, we found ourselves in the charming Cold Forest Village. Here, we encountered the spirited huskies and their adorable puppies. The excitement was palpable as we paired up and took turns steering the dog sleds through the snowy trails. The exhilaration of gliding across the white landscape with the energetic huskies was simply incredible.
Our last activity of the trip brought us closer to Lapland's iconic creatures - reindeer! After a briefing on how to approach them, we were enchanted by their gentle nature and majestic beauty. The experience of riding with the reindeer was serene and peaceful, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the tranquility of our surroundings.

Farewell Lapland: A Grateful Goodbye
As our Lapland adventure drew to a close, we couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. We were immensely grateful for the unforgettable experiences and the incredible people who made this journey possible.
Thank you, Lapland, for the memories that will forever warm our hearts. It's been an absolute blast exploring your snowy landscapes, meeting Santa Claus, and making connections with your extraordinary wildlife. Until we meet again, stay magical!
