Montserrat

🚇 How to get there: Take the metro to Plaça d'Espanya which lets you off at the Espanya train station. From there, follow the signs to the R5 train. You can purchase a round-trip ticket to Montserrat from one of the yellow machines. Make sure it includes the R5 train trip and either the funicular train or the gondola. You'll get off of the R5 at different spots depending on which one you choose. Gondola: Get off at Aeri de Montserrat Funicular: Get off at Monistrol de Monserrat If you choose the funicular train, make sure yo head all the way up to Montserrat, not Monserrat Villa. If you're overwhelmed— don't fret. There are signs and people there to help you. 📍What to do: Take the Sant Joan Funicular (separate ticket) up to the top of the mountain and hike back down (approx 40 mins). On the way, don't forget to stop at St. Michael's cross for an incredible view of Montserrat.

📣 SAFETY NOTE:

The metro stops running at 2 am, so I recommend using Uber to get back to your hotel or Airbnb, it’s safe and fairly inexpensive in Spain!

Best suited for: Friday or Saturday night

For those who want a little taste of Barcelona nightlife without staying up until dawn and having to nurse a massive hangover the next day.
