Torino : Day 2/3

Torino : Day 2/3

Ashlinn Romagnoli
This is my recommendation for if you have three full days in Turin and want to walk away feeling like you have had a diverse, expansive visit! Day 2 takes you out of the city to see it all from the heights of Superga followed by a hike down into the adorable town of San Mauro Torinese, where you can freshen up with a coffee, gelato, or aperitivo if it’s already later in the day! Finish by taking the bus back into the city and taking a walk in the gorgeous Parco Valentino near the river.

Superga

Absolutely stunning view of the city. From the center, you can take Bus 61 or Tram 15 to the Funicular 79 that will take you up to the top. If you enjoy hiking, it’s a pleasant downhill hike to get into San Mauro Torinese, a cute little village just outside Turin.

Castello del Valentino
@utopiaitalia
You could make an entire afternoon out of walking around the park, or just sitting and resting if you completed the superga hike in the morning. This castle is beautiful to see and on a lovely walking path near the river. Remember, you can take the funicular both to and from the basilica if you want to do more of your walking in the park!

Ashlinn Romagnoli
I created Utopia Italia to document my experiences moving to Italy with almost zero preparation or expectation. A couple of enthusiastic explorers, my husband and I love diving into new places and meeting new people. We are particularly passionate about fostering community and take great pleasure in ensuring our friends feel cared for and well fed. Sharing with a broader audience felt like a natural next step, and thatch is a far sight better than the google docs we used to share around for visiting friends! The project began as essays and podcasts called Utopia: An Italian Study that you can sign up for (for free!) at utopiaitalia.substack.com. You can also check out the Instagram @utopiaitalia for photos and updates: this is the nexus for the entire Utopia Italia project!
