Drink your way through Melbourne: Coffee edition
Drink your way through Melbourne: Coffee edition
Mel Dennis
I am firm believer that the day shouldn't start without caffeine, and shouldn't end without a wine. Melbourne is known for its fabulous baristas and beans. I am here to guide you in starting your day off right - caffeinated!

Caffeinated in the CBD
Below are the best places to grab a coffee and bite of break in the CBD, personally trialled and tested by me, coffee snob!
Jungle Juice Bar
@meldennis
Our current weekend breaky and coffee stop! Jungle juice is nestled at the end of Degraves Lane. A "hole in the wall" cafe serving up amazing coffee and a delicious bagel menu.
If you're wanting a nice takeaway coffee in the city, this is where I'd go!

Caffeinated a little further out
if you are willing to branch out and see more of Melbourne, the outskirts have some amazing options! After all, why not see a new neck of the woods.
Top Paddock Cafe
@meldennis
10/10! Any place that has a line, means it must be good (and the locals love it!). I love getting the coffee flight here, where you can try beans from different origins, and they change each month. The breakfast here is also amazing. I am a pancake lover, and the ricotta hotcake from here is in my top 3 ever!

The coffee float: beans from all over the globe that top paddock source (and they change them up every month). Always something new to try!
Dumbo
@meldennis
My previous local, a morning coffee which never disappointed. This amazing multicultural inspired menu will keep you full and satisfied until happy hour drinks!

Usually I am a 3-a-day skinny cap girl, but Dumbo had this Tiramisu iced coffee that I just had to try!
Convoy Moonee Ponds
@meldennis
Trust me, its worth the uber ride out here! Moonee ponds is an amazing place for food and coffee culture. Convoy nestles in beautifully here. Again, amazing coffee, but don't stop there. If you're going to make the journey, enjoy brunch as well. This place has the best prawn rolls and sweet potato pancakes (don't knock it 'till you try it).

Abacus Bar & Kitchen
@meldennis
Abacus is a versatile kitchen which provides a delightful morning menu, as well as opening well into the night. May think this is just a bar, but you would be missing out if you didn't enjoy the brunch and coffee. Then you get to shop your way down Chapel street afterwards!
My favourite is the avocado and mozzarella corn cake.
