Hello, fellow traveler!
Thank you for choosing my guide to help you have a fantastic trip to Sequoia National Park. Did you know it is the second national park in the US, and the trees are over 3,000 years old? 🤯 This guide includes the spots I was able to visit in the three days I spent in the park, plus the additional research I did when preparing.
I hope you have the best time!!
xoxo

⛽️ If you're coming from Fresno, I recommend getting gas in Dunlap. That is the last spot before getting into the park. When you're in the park, there is one right before Dorst Creek, but then nada after that.
Service
📲 There was spotty service in the park. I recommend downloading your Google Maps and hiking trails offline. I use AllTrails for my hikes. Since this guide requires the internet, I took screenshots so that I could access all the information. I did get good service at Pinewood Picnic Area.
Wildlife
🐻 I did see two bears and a bunch of deer while hiking. They didn't bother me, and I kept my distance but holy sh*t, it was awesome. Make sure you properly store your food away at camp and don't leave it lying around in your car.
Photography
📷 Sunset Rock is a fantastic spot to get some great shots. I went back there two times to see the sunset. Moro Rock is another great spot. Crescent Meadows is a photographer's dream playground. I honestly had so much fun running around with my camera and admiring the trees. Tunnel Log is another spot! I went right after sunrise, and my photos came out dark, but I didn't want to risk the crowds and I had it all to myself.
1.5-mile - some of the best trees in the park.
You can do the meadow loop or a 4-mile RT to General Sherman Tree. Honestly, you can do both. The trees here are so amazing!
0.7-mile loop that circles Round Meadow, much of it on a boardwalk.
One of the most scenic and memorable places in Sequoia, featuring massive, ancient old-growth sequoia trees from a boardwalk loop.
In the heart of the park.
2.7-mile round trip paved path through the Giant Forest and the rest of General Sherman’s Sequoia grove. See the Senate Trees - a cluster of trees on this hike - does take you to the Sherman Tree.
* if you hike from Crescent Meadows, you run into the Congress Trail.

How I spent my Wednesday! I was tired from the day before, so I had a slow morning and then ditched the crowds for Muir Grove.
Miss the crowds - 4 mile moderate hike with an elevation gain of 462 feet.
The Dorst Campground was closed so I parked across the street. Adds 2 miles.

Hi! I'm Alexis, but you can call me Lex! I am a California native who loves wildly epic adventures. Welcome to Ma I'm Fine's Thatch Shop! Here, you can save or buy all my travel guides.

Ma I’m Fine came to life after moving back home from Australia, thinking the knowledge and experience I gained would help others wanting to travel and become an au pair. I also wanted to remember my adventures and never lose the intimate details of my trips. There’s nothing like being able to relive your most cherished memories. As I’m no longer an au pair and currently work for a criminal defense attorney and non-profit, you can find me either on a road trip with my rooftop tent or living that backpacker hostel life.

I have always loved the outdoors and truly fell in love with our planet after getting certified in Scuba Diving. My passion for helping Mother Earth intensified after watching the Netflix documentaries Seaspircy, Our Universe, and Life On Our Planet. I believe change comes from knowledge and emotion; these documentaries changed my perspective. I want to use MIF to educate, bring awareness, and create change in order to leave Mother Earth a better place. I donate a portion of my profits to different non-profits depending on their location.
Thanks for being here!
