Beaches in Albania: Mini Guide

Something to note about most of the beaches in this gorgeous country, is that most of them are rocky. Some beaches have small pebbles to small sized stones, so it is sometimes more comfortable to bring water shoes or waterproof shoes with you.

Another thing I will mention, is that most of the beaches in this guide require a car as they aren't right in the towns themselves. I highly suggest renting a car when travelling through Albania. If you have more specific questions or would like some additional beach recommendations, take a look at my services and we can build your dream trip to Albania!

Himarë:

Not too far from the cute town of Himarë, you will find two of my favorite beaches in all of Albania (and I've visited quite a few). Honestly, there are so many wonderful beaches to choose from, that I don't think you can really go wrong.

Livadi Beach

A truly dreamy place to spend your day relaxing. You can choose between putting your towel in the sand, or renting a beach chair here. Depending on your budget, both are great options! The water is great for swimming here with very calm waves. As I've mentioned, the beaches in Albania are wonderful, but most require beach shoes for the most comfortable experience!

Gjipe Beach

Now this beach...breathtaking. This is by far my absolute favorite beach in all of Albania. However, it does require a hike to get to. It takes about 25-30 minutes and it is recommended to wear running shoes as the uneven ground can be hard to navigate. From the parking lot, you will take the trail down and have absolutely stunning views of the water the entire time (not a bad place to stop and take many water breaks). At this beach, you also have a small restaurant and the option to rent a beach chair. There are lots of places to set down a towel too.

Ksamil:

With so many beaches right in the town of Ksamil, you don't need to drive in order to find a beautiful beach. However,  two of the beaches that I really enjoyed most are actually just a bit outside the town of Ksamil.

Pulëbardha Beach

Like most beaches in Albania, they're just stunning. You enter this beach through the restaurant. Although you do not need to purchase anything through the restaurant, this beach is almost 90% covered in beach chairs for rent. For the public beach, you just need to walk all the way to the very far side of the beach.

Gjiri i Hartës

This beach is definitely more of a family friendly beach. Requires no hiking so is generally pretty accessible by most. There is also a dock in the water which is super fun! Very calm and relaxing waters.
