The best time of year to visit Kingston, New York is between May and November unless you're into winter sports too - then all year has something to offer.

Transportation

Uber and Lyft are not widely used in this area. Renting a car will give you more mobility but if you want to take the bus or train from NYC, I have had luck booking a Lyft one day in advance. I am noticing more Ubers but they are price-y. Otherwise, there are a few local cab companies you could make arrangements with - but don't wait until the last minute!

From NYC:

Amtrak from Moynihan Train Hall to Rhinecliff Station

Trailsways Bus from Port Authority to Kingston

Accommodations

Hotel Kinsley
@analise
A well known boutique hotel with a few locations right in the center of town. You can get away with no car if you come by rail or bus from NYC or elsewhere. There is plenty to see and eat within walking distance aside from swimming and hiking which is a little out of walking reach.

Coffee & Breakfast

Rough Draft Bar & Books
@analise
Rough draft features a revolving list of monthly drinks that often include the best lattes in town. It's a cozy book store and bar, as well but it can be hard to find seating. It's across the street from the Kingston Farmer's Market which happens Saturday 9am - 2pm so you can make a morning/early afternoon out of both.

Lunch & Vibes

Camp Kingston
@analise
A new coffee shop in town. It's lively with arcade games but I still come here to work - particularly a co-work session with friends. I love their specialty lattes.

Le Canard Enchaine

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kingston. It offers authentic French cuisine. I prefer to go at lunch when it is less busy and a bit more casual. It's nice to sit outside in nice weather.

Restaurants & Bars

Graziano's Downtown Cafe
@analise
This is some of the best Italian food I've ever had and I grew up on Italian cuisine. Pasta made in-house and very homey atmosphere.

Chleo

I went here a few times when it opened and really enjoyed the small plates and wine selection. I get the sense the menu is rotating but I distinctly remember a mac and cheese dish that I really enjoyed.
