High quality, no-frills sandwich spot for take-out. Sandwiches are in the $9-$11 range. Just head to the counter. Very well known for their paninis. I've ordered the Chicken Schnitzel a few times. A great split for 2-people who aren't that hungry but want a quick bite. Hence the name.

El Castillo de Jagua
@herebebarr
Cute, little Dominican Diner serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on the Lower East Side. You can still find a 2 egg breakfast here for $5.00. Or better yet a Domincian Breakfast for $6-$7.
Their sandwiches (Cubans, Roasted Pork, etc) Range from $6-$9. Considering how pricey the Lower East Side is, this place is a steal for a sit down meal. Ask for their lunch specials, depending on the day. This diner may very well surprise you.

YUBU
@herebebarr
I just recently discovered Yubu, on an East Village Cheap Eats Crawl with some friends. They serve Inari (Rice Filled Tofu Pockets with Meat/Fish/Veggies on top) which are absolutely delicious. They're $3.50 to $4.00 each and the perfect little snack to go. I'm in love with the Beef Bulgogi (marinated beef). The Salmon is very fresh if you're up for raw fish or a sushi fan. They are one of the most popular newer spots in the entire neighborhood.
