A collection of my favorite stops in one of Europeās most charming lakeside towns and the Swiss metropolis of Zurich. When in Luzern, sure to walk under the 1333 AD KappelbrĆ¼cke (one of the oldest covered bridges in the world).
Also included: a side trip by boat to Mt. Rigi across Lake Lucerne.

Lion Monument
@bewellandwander
The Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, is a rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820ā21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. - Wikipedia

Wirtshaus Galliker
@bewellandwander
The Galliker family has been running this tavern for over a century, serving hearty, traditional fare to generations of Luzerners. The atmosphere at Wirtshaus Galliker can best be described using the untranslatable German word, GemĆ¼tlichkeit (a combination of coziness, familiarity, and the feeling that allās right with the world). Enjoy a homemade Luzerner ChĆ¼gelipastete (a veal and mushroom puff pastry pie) while surrounded by old regulars at this family and pet friendly restaurant.

Bellini Locanda Ticinese
@bewellandwander
PHENOMENAL northern Italian food reflective of what can be found on the border between Italy/Switzerland. Even after 5+ trips to Italy, I was delighted and surprised. If youāre extra nice, the chef might even show you where they hang and dry their own aged meats and other delicious goodies in the cellar below the restaurant.
