Florence is very easy to get to by train or plane. If you're flying into the Florence airport like we do, then you just take the T2 tram straight into the city center. It drops you off right by the central train station.

I think most people have an idea of the main things they want to do in Florence, so I'm not going to get into that. I know you want to see the Duomo and David, but I'll share my favorite spots to eat (including GELATO!), maybe a hidden gem or two, vintage shops I loved, where we can recommend staying and day trip ideas.

Getting around Florence is easiest by foot. There are buses, but it's not that big for the main areas and you'll get to go at your own pace. Besides, it free!

Restaurants to try

I read a review online that said the cinnamon was "Godlike", so I had to try it. It was the best cinnamon I've ever had in my life. Light with the perfect balance of warm cinnamon and ooey gooey frosting. You need this in your life right now. And you can take it away. There will be a line to eat in, so you can just hop right to the counter and order to-go.

This is THE place for brunch in Florence. You'll find it hidden in the clothing shop "LUISAVIAROMA". Just walk straight in and go up the stairs. It's outdoors but covered and they have a few seats inside, too. Excellent food, juices, teas, and will soon have more creative cocktails and ceremonial cocao. We are in love 💕

La Prosciutteria Firenze

We went here for the "tagliere" which is much like a charcuterie board. Everything was delicious (not surprised) but it's a popular spot, so pop in early.

We missed this the last time we were there, but I've seen incredible photos and will visit the next time we go back.

Giardino delle Rose

It's hilly but beautiful. If you're going to hike up the hill for the view, it might as well be in a garden. Go slow and make time to smell the roses!

Piazzale Michelangelo
@awanderlustforlife
Here's the thing...there's not really any shade, so if you're going on a hot day, go early or late. It's a bit of a hike to get up there, so make sure you take care of yourself. But the view...it is spectacular!

Day trips

Day trips are a great way to explore when you don't have too much time. But, they can be very exhausting! Don't do too many in a row if they are longer days. You'll want to enjoy your trip and not dread the next day :)

Where to stay

We like staying near the train station due to convenience of going to and from the airport/train station. But you can easily walk around Florence from here, as well. You're minutes from restaurants, there's a mini-grocery store around the corner, and it just makes things much easier. So, here are the two places we've stayed.
