One-day travel guide: Lisbon
Lisbon is small and perfect for a day of exploration.
Start your day with a nice brunch.
Before heading to the iconic São Jorge Castle, offering both fascinating history and breathtaking city views. As you descend from the castle, make your way to the Lisbon Cathedral, a historic gem surrounded by a cluster of museums. These include the Museum of Resistance and Freedom, the José Saramago Foundation, and the Teatro Romano de Lisboa Museum.
Continue your journey to the city center, where shops line the streets. Don't miss the Elevador de Santa Justa, an iconic elevator tower rising in the heart of the city. From here, take a stroll to Praça do Comércio, Lisbon's grand main square situated right by the ocean.
At this point, you might be hugnry so I suggest to stop at a food hall.
Before hopping in an Uber for a quick 20-minute ride outside of the city center to reach the iconic Belém Tower, walk on Pink Street and Green Street, which are right outside of the market hall.
Once in Belem, explore the historical fortress, then take a scenic walk along the waterfront to reach the majestic Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.
You cannot leave the Belem area without eating Pastel De Nata, the famous Lisbon pastry.
Catch the bus 155 to LX Factory for a aperitivo experience. LX Factory, a former industrial site turned vibrant cultural hub, offers a unique blend of markets, food stalls, music, shops, and bars.
For dinner, join the queue at Faz Frio, one of the best places to savor authentic Portuguese cuisine. While they don't take reservations, the food is well worth the wait.
Alternatively, if the line is too long or you're in the mood for something different, Madam Bo is an excellent option for delicious dumplings.
Starting from where I suggested allows for mostly downhill walking as the city is full of downhills and inclines.
