3 Days in Bangkok🇹🇭

Sing Ye
Bangkok is probably the best place for a long weekend getaway. I had so much fun in the short 3 days here visiting friends, trying local foods visiting cafes and, of course.

Accomodation

Qiu Hotel Sukhumvit (SHA Plus+)
@singye
This hotel is very conveniently located near a BTS and a 7-eleven. The amenities were honesting amazing for the price we paid. There is even a microwave and Netflix! We didn't get to use the pool and the "gym" (the gym was a bit run-down) but we don't have any complaints about the room itself.

Local Food

Rung Rueang Pork Noodle (Left Shop)
@singye
The moment you pull up in your Grab, the aunties from both the left and right shop will start calling out to you to patronize their stall. Honestly, I have no idea which is the "real" shop but the one we went to was good! Daringly spicy chewy noodles with generous toppings of meat.

Wattana Panich
@singye
This is a beef noodle stall that boasts of their 40-year-old broth, which sits in a giant cauldron at front of the shop. Foreigners seem to get ushered upstairs to the air-conditioned room. If you can't eat beef, chicken and pork rice dishes are available as well.

Night Markets

JODD FAIRS DanNeramit
@singye
This is a night market with the most photo opportunities. This has a similar name but is nowhere within walking distance of the other JODD Fairs market.

JODD FAIRS Rama 9
@singye
This is one of the newest night markets in Bangkok that will leave you spoiled for choice. My favourite was the shop that sells vintage/second-hand t-shirts for $6. The food options were endless but we made a beeline to the mini pandan cakes and the banana nutella pratas. If you're adventurous and not horrified by seeing your food jump, give live shrimp a try. The traffic jam heading to this market is insane. Do arrive a little earlier than 6pm to avoid crowds.

Cafes

Café Praline Brunch & Bakeshop
@singye
This is an adorable cafe with a wide selection of pastries and brunch items. Every item we ordered was a hit: Rocher Croissant, Ham & Cheese Croissant and Croissant Roll Brekkie with Ebiko Cream Sauce. Their drinks were delicious and beautiful as well. A perfect place for an early breakfast as they open at 8am.

Bigknit Cafe
@singye
This is a beautiful and comfy cafe known for its Big Knit bags. The workshop is quite pricey, not going to lie. But it is a unique experience and a fun souvenir to take home. The workshop is no-fuss: you choose the giant ball of yarn and the shape of the final product and the staff guides you on how to make it. The workshop takes about 2 hours and it's a fun afternoon activity if you're sick of the non-stop eating and shopping.

A Pink Rabbit + Bob
@singye
This is a cute little rustic cake/tart shop that my friend brought me to. I was intrigued by this particular tart: Toddy Palm Meringue Tart. It is a tart with palm custard and salted chocolate. It is my first time having palm fruit in a pastry and it works so well. The meringue is fluffy and not too sweet, there's that nice crunch from the biscuit base and a rich savoury fudge to balance the freshness of the soft fruit. It is probably one of the most unique and delicious pastry I had this year.

Activities

The Hop Bangkok
@singye
If you want to meet new people and try something new, pop by one of the two swing dance studios in Bangkok. The crowd is friendly and helpful to beginners/tourists. Do check out their schedule to find out which lessons would be suitable for beginners.

Jelly Roll Dance Club
@singye
This is the other swing dance studio in Bangkok. My friend and I actually came to know about these studios through a swing dance event. It was vibrant and fun (and a little bit overwhelming) and we got to interact with the friendly locals. Unfortunately, we were not able to join one of their classes at the studio due to conflict clashes but we had a good time dancing (or trying to dance) with the regulars from this studio. It was quite intimidating for us two girlies who have never danced a day in their lives but it was worth overcoming that fear. Do give it a try!
