I lived in San Diego for a year during residency and got to try so many different restaurants! As a Yelp Elite since 2019, I would say I have a pretty high standard for good food! Here is a map of some of the top foodie spots in San Diego!

Brunch
Parkhouse Eatery
@jenuine_reviews
5/5 stars. I split the linguini with egg, crab cake benedict, French toast, and the Oreo muffin with my friends. My favorites were the linguini and the crab cake benedict. The linguini was flavorful, and the benedict was cooked perfectly.

Sugar and Scribe

5/5 stars. I tried the beef and guiness pie. The puff pastry was crunchy and flaky, and the beef was soooo tender.

Werewolf

5/5 stars. I got the pork belly benedict. The benedict was so unique! The maple glazed pork belly with the potato cakes took the dish to a whole other level. The poached eggs were also cooked perfectly.

Morning Glory

4/5. AMAZING ambiance. This is the reason the lines are long. Some people think it's over-hyped, and yes, the food isn't stellar, but still enjoyable
I tried the lobster benedict, German pancake, and the souffle pancakes. The egg for the lobster benedict was cooked perfectly and the lobster was pretty tasty although the lobster pieces could have been larger. The soufflé pancakes were very fluffy and had a great texture. The pancake needed some additional flavor to make it special, maybe some fruit sauce. The German pancakes were surprisingly good. The inside was very eggy, and surprisingly savory.

Menya Ultra Mira Mesa
@jenuine_reviews
5/5 stars. This is the best ramen spot ever! There are 3 locations (Clairemont, Mira Mesa, and Hillcrest). The Clairemont one is extremely popular and busy. Try to put your name on the Yelp waitlist in advance.
I've been to all three locations, and the quality is consistent! The broth is insanely rich and unmatched anywhere else!

5/5 stars. This was our favorite spot for KBBQ when we lived in San Diego! The meats were so flavorful and tender! The dipping sauces were great

Harumama Noodles + Buns (Little Italy)
@jenuine_reviews
4/5 stars. Known for their character buns. The chicken, cow, and pig buns had chicken, beef, and pork, respectively. The bee bun had custard inside, and the bunny bun had Nutella inside.
The buns were absolutely adorable and fun to eat! They were also quite tasty. I thought the chicken and pork buns were flavorful, but the beef bun was pretty bland. I didn't particularly enjoy the custard bun (but I'm not a fan of custard in general), but I loved the Nutella bun! Pretty pricey

Phuong Trang

5/5 stars. I tried the make-your-own rice paper wraps with pork skewers! These are delicious

Oscars Mexican Seafood
@jenuine_reviews
5/5 stars
This Oscar's location is close to the Smoke Shop, so it's a little sketchy, but la comida es fantastica!
I tried the taco especial and atun adobado here, both of which were delicious. Don't forget to get the limes and the sauces in the fridge!
There are 2 other locations, which I'm sure are just as good!

CUCINA urbana
@jenuine_reviews
5/5 stars. We split the family size pappardelle and a pizza (casalingo pepperoni and fennel sausage) amongst four people, which was a perfect portion size for us. The pappardelle was amazing!! I loved the hearty, meaty taste of the sauce, and the short ribs were so tender that it melt in your mouth.

Tribute Pizza
@jenuine_reviews
4/5 stars. We ordered 5 pizzas for 5 people and did family style. The pizzas are thin-crusted, and they are so unique.
My favorite was the wise guy, definitely 5/5 because the mix of cheese, sausage, and caramelized onions was perfection. The bees mode was probably my second favorite because it had a unique sweet kick to it.
The other pizzas were just ok in my opinion, and were also too spicy. The you knew this was coming had jalapeños in it, and the mushroom Whitestone had too many chiles on it. The cadillac margherita was topped with burrata, which was interesting, but not something I would rave about

SOMISOMI
@jenuine_reviews
5/5 stars. This is the place where I met the taiyaki (fish-shaped cake with fillings). Somi somi is a chain, but it's a MUST if you've never had it. Obviously get the nutella filling

MNGO cafe
@jenuine_reviews
4/5 stars. Fun place if you love mango desserts! I got the MNGO Kakigori (Japanese shaved ice), which was pretty good. Very beautiful dessert presentation, but did not have much mango flavor
