Welcome to Wellington! This charming capital city is nestled between green hills and a harbor. Wellington is the center of New Zealandโs film and special effects industry. There is something in this city for everyone including Marvel exhibitions, birding, shopping, museums, a historic cable car, coffee culture, Cuba Street, and more.
Home to the world's first fully fenced predator-free urban sanctuary, Zealandia. Native bird populations flourish here and you will see several endangered species. This guide is for the hikers/nature lovers with some extra links for city-goers. Be prepared for a full day of walking here. The hills and neighborhoods and surrounding native land are not made for heels!

* If you go to Zealandia for birding and hiking make sure to carry your long range camera lenses and binoculars. Some of the bird habitats are across rivers.ย
*Be dressed for a walking city. Wellington neighborhoods are cobblestone, or outdoors/up hills.ย
*Coffee connoisseurs will be in heaven here. The city is FULL of coffee shops and they take the craft very seriously.ย

"ZEALANDIA is an immersive venture into New Zealandโs wildlife. Located in central Wellington, the ecosanctuary is home to some of the worldโs most extraordinary animals." I spent most of the day here hiking. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. Great gift shop full of local wares.
