Hawai'i Mother's Day Trip

Hawai'i Mother's Day Trip

I went to Kauai with my mom and sister for Mother's Day for a 4 day trip. I highly recommend renting a vehicle so you can see all the beautiful scenery Kauai has to offer. We drove through a tunnel of trees, overlooked the Waimea Canyon, and got to see a picturesque view (main photo) of several waterfalls in the distance. I've highlighted only some of what we saw and did, but hopefully this will make you want to visit Kauai! Below is our itinerary for the trip (3pgs.) along with a map of where we went. Our Hotel

Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort
@Dancing_Geologist
We stayed at this hotel and happened to be upgraded to an ocean view room and it was beautiful! The hotel is walking distance to the beach and a drugstore. They're breakfast buffet was delicious and had some Hawaiian favorites: POG (pineapple, orange, guava) Juice, Rice with Hawaiian sausage or SPAM. They also had free snow cones by the pool! It was delicious!

Activities

Kauai Backcountry Adventures
@Dancing_Geologist
We did the Ziplining and Tubing tours which were so fun! Guides were amazing and helpful, especially with my mother who is afraid of heights. They helped give her the little push she needed (sometimes big push!). The water was cold but the canal tunnels were so neat to go through. It was a relaxing and adventurous time!

Smith Family Garden Luau
@Dancing_Geologist
This was a lovely venue for a Luau. We got to walk around the property where they had peacocks and lots of beautiful plants/flowers. There was lots of different foods to try and drinks to drink! The music and roasting ceremony were a lovely touch.

Ho'opi'i Falls
@Dancing_Geologist
One of the places where Jurassic Park was filmed! The hike was definitely muddy and slippery, but the waterfall was worth it. It's not a huge waterfall, but is gorgeous. You can hike straight to the base or take the side trail to the top, we did both! I brought my little dinosaurs and eggs to take pictures with! Yes! I love Jurassic Park!!

Coconut Marketplace
@Dancing_Geologist
Several cute shops and a couple of places to eat. We loved the snowcone place and the flavors were natural and didn't have too much sugar. I could have eaten only snowcones the entire trip!

JoJo's Shave Ice
@Dancing_Geologist
Some of the best shaved ice I have ever tried!!! The flavors are soooo good and natural. They make their own syrups and grown some of their own fruit. This is a must if you get out there!

Duke's Kauai
@Dancing_Geologist
We went here for Mother's Day and it was perfect! The food was delicious and so were the drinks. My drink came in a real coconut that I was able to take home with me. The view was amazing, as it sits right on the beach. I would come back to try their drinks.

A Cute feature if you like to see natural made blow holes. This area is known for lots of waves which makes it perfect to see the blow hole blow several times.

@Dancing_Geologist
We drove up the coast to Hanalei Bay and made several stops along the way. On our way back we stopped to grab a coconut and take some Jurassic Park scenery pictures.

Jurassic Kahili Ranch
@Dancing_Geologist
This is best seen on your way from Hanalein Bay back to Lihue. It was so surreal to see the large open area where we first see the dinosaurs in the movie appear! I was so ecstatic and wish the compound was open for tours when we were there, but it was not. Guess I have to go back!
