Tips and tricks

1. Guadalajara is known for its warm, friendly locals. Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations or directions—they’re often more than happy to help.

2. If you’re sensitive to spice, ask for your food “sin picante” (without spice). Guadalajara cuisine can be fiery!

3. Bring comfortable walking shoes—many of the city’s best sights are within walking distance, but the cobblestone streets can be hard on your feet.

4. Consider learning a few basic Spanish phrases. While many people in tourist areas speak English, a little Spanish can go a long way.

5. Keep some cash on hand, especially for markets and smaller establishments that may not accept credit cards.
