HOTELS

Fairfield by Marriott Seoul
@siobhankhoo
During my first solo trip to Seoul, I wanted to stay in a Hotel instead of an AirBNB, and I found Fairfield by Marriot during my search and it was a really pleasant stay. πŸ’°It was about S$90/night when I had stayed there. It's further out from the city centre, but considering how convenient Seoul it, there was no issues travelling to the different places I wanted to visit! πŸš‡There's a subway station Line 1 "Yeongdeung-po" inside the mall, that was right beside the hotel, which made it even more convenient! It is connected directly to "Seoul Station", "Noryangjin", "City Hall" and "Dongdaemun" πŸŒ†There's a Lotte Department store right beside the hotel, which made it super convenient to get my lunch when I wanted a lazy day! There's also a Shinsege mall around the corner. Right opposite the hotel, there's a bustling street, where I went for supper on some nights and it also has some bustling night life for you to enjoy!! 🏞️In it's surroundings, there's Yeouido Hangang Park for you to have Ramen by the river. Not too far down, you have the National Assembly Building and for KPOP fans, KBS building is a walking distance from the Hangang Park! You can drop by on Thursday to catch you favourite idols walking in & out of the building !! 🧳If you arrive early, you can inform the front desk, and you can store your luggages there and travel around the city, luggage-free, before you check-in and settle down!

Hotel Midcity Myeongdong
@siobhankhoo
For first-timers in Seoul, Hotel Midcity is an accommodation I would recommend, considering it's location. 🫧It's situated in Myeongdong, the heart of the city centre, where most of the tourist attractions are! This reduces the time you'd require to travel, giving you more time to explore Seoul 🏨The rooms were comfortable and on the more affordable spectrum. It also has a rooftop with an amazing view, where you can hang out with your friends and family for a chill night

Hotel Boutique 9
@siobhankhoo
I initially stayed at this hotel with my cousin and my aunt, and after they left, I moved to another room to continue my stay. It is located slightly further away from the city centre, but its Subway station is situated 2 minutes away from the Hotel! πŸ’°It was about $100/night when I stayed alone. It was about $150/night for 3 pax, when I was with my cousin & aunt. πŸš‡The nearest station to the hotel was "Sinseoldong" on Subway Line 1. It is connected to places like Seoul station, City Hall and Dongdaemun, making it really convenient to travel around the city. πŸŒ†As it is not a touristy area, the neighbourhood is quieter than locations like Myeongdong or Hongdae, but it is very peaceful. 🏨The rooms are really big and it definitely could have accomodated 4 people in the room I stayed at alone! The hotel staff do not speak fluent English, but they do try their best, and Papago is always there to save the day. 🧳If you're intending to travel to another city for a few days and come back, or even if you arrive early, you are able to store you luggage with them! Just don't lose the slip of paper they give you!

UH Suite Central Seoul
@siobhankhoo
This hotel is more for families travelling together. It has multiple rooms and a common area in the room that you book! So essentially, you're booking a small apartment for the trip 🏠 πŸš‡The nearest subway station to the hotel is "City Hall" with both Line 1 and 2. It is really convenient to travel around Seoul, as major tourist attractions are on both Line 1 and Line 2 πŸ’°While the hotel is on the pricier side, its location, rooms and service justifies the price! 🏨The UH Suite has multiple outlets, including one in Myeongdong as well!

HOSTELS

SPACE GUESTHOUSE
@siobhankhoo
I stayed here for 2 nights alone, and I thought it was really comfortable and worth the price! Located a 5 minute walk from Myeongdong station, making it really convenient to travel around seoul. You can also easily get to namsam tower by walking up, if you want! πŸ’° I payed about S$60/night when I had booked it for May 2024. πŸš‡ The nearest station to the hotel was "Myeongdong" on Subway Line 4. It is connected to places like Seoul station, making it really convenient to travel around the city. πŸŒ† Despite it being near a touristy area, the neighbourhood is quite quiet at night. In the day, it is more happening if you walk towards Myeongdong station, but it is still relatively quiet and peaceful than the main streets! They even have a rooftop for you to enjoy the view of Namsam tower and enjoy your supper at night~

AIRBNBs

These are some of the AirBNBs that I have personally stayed in, and really enjoyed my stay at.

This AirBNB I stayed at was situated near Seoul Station. I stayed there for about 2 weeks, and I'd really recommend it especially if you intend on taking day trips out of Seoul. It's about a 5-10 minutes walk from Seoul Station Exit 15. This space was a lot spacious than I had expected it to be, and it contained all the necessary amenities too.

🧺 If you're staying there long enough, that you'd need to wash your clothes, they do have a washing machine and detergent available for you to wash them as well!

πŸ‘Ύ They have board games, and a projector for you and your friends for you guys have have a lazy night in on days you want to take it slow. There's also a 7-11 convenience store outside the accommodation, making it super easy to get your late night convenience store supper!! 🍜

πŸ“The only thing I'd highlight is that, to get to the accommodation, it is an uphill climb, and if like me, you follow Naver Maps the first time, you might end up on the route that is all stairs!

πŸ§πŸ»β€β™€οΈThe host is also super responsive, and provides you with the necessary information you require for a super pleasant stay. Ask the host anything from her nearby food delicacies recommendation, to spots around Seoul, she will provide you with a comprehensive list and reasons why she enjoys them too 🍱πŸ₯€

πŸ’°The AirBNB was about S$87/night when I stayed there, and it is on the pricier side. But considering it's location, it's space and the host's hospitality, it's definitely worth it!

---------------------------------------------------------------

I stayed at this AirBNB with my sister for about a week when we were there! If like us, you love the vibes of Hongdae and its surroundings, I'd highly recommend this place too. It's about a 5 minutes walk from Hongik Station exit 6. It contains all your necessary ammenities, including towels and soap!

🚿 There's also a washing machine, detergent and a dryer if you happen to stain your clothes while on the trip.

😴 If you're one to book day tours from Klook, many of the tour's pick-up locations include Hongdae! This AirBNB location will give you the extra 5 minute sleep time you need, especially since most of pick up times are SUPER early

πŸ§πŸ»β€β™€οΈThe host is also super responsive and on the first day you arrive, she will meet you at the accommodations to explain certain things to you! She does not speak fluent English, but she definitely tries her best to break the communication barrier!

πŸ’° The AirBNB was about S$110/night for 2 people when I stayed there, which I would say is relatively more affordable!

This AirBNB allowed me and my sister to watch busking at Hongdae street until really late, and still wake up in time to catch our tour bus at 7am the next morning πŸ˜… So needless to say, we highly recommend it!!

β€Œ---------------------------------------------------------------

β€ŒI stayed at this AirBNB with my friends for about 5 nights when we were there and it's about a 10 minutes walk from Hongik Station exit 3. It contains all your necessary amenities, including towels and soap! They have multiple rooms that they are renting on airbnb, so you can check out the rest of their listings, but this was the particular room that I had stayed in with my friends!

πŸ’° The AirBNB was about S$30/night for 4 people when we stayed there, which I would say is very affordable, especially for the location!

πŸ›Ž They have a common area at the first level, where there are cooking materials (e.g. pots, pans, salt, oil etc.) and fridge as well. Do note that this airbnb does not have a lift, and you room would be on the 2nd or 3rd level!

🧳You would be able to store your luggage under the stairs if you were to arrive early/leave later than the check-in/check-out time. However, do note that as it is a common area, they would not be locked up!

This AirBNB allowed me and my sister to watch busking at Hongdae street until really late, and still wake up in time to catch our tour bus at 7am the next morning πŸ˜… So needless to say, we highly recommend it!!

---------------------------------------------------------------

β€ŒI stayed at this AirBNB with my friends for about 2 nights when we were there and it's about a 3 minutes walk from Hansung University Station exit 1. It contains all your necessary amenities, including towels and soap! They have 3 rooms, and it was a modern Hanok that I think is fun to stay with your friends for the experience!Β

πŸ’° The AirBNB was about S$50/night for 6 people when we stayed there, which I would say is very affordable, for a modern Hanok!

πŸ“– There's a guestbook at the airbnb and my friends and I had a fun time writing on it!Β

🍺 The host had provided us with multiple bottles of water, and also provided 2 free bottles of Makgeolli (Rice Wine), which my friends and I enjoyed thoroughly! They have a "tea room', where we could all sit together and play games/watch tv, and we really enjoyed ourselves!

This AirBNB fulfilled my wish of staying in a Hanok, while providing hints of Modern style in the stay. 2 of the rooms had floor mattresses - just like the olden days, while 1 room had a queen sized bed! It is definitely a worthy stay and while it may not be located in the heart of the tourist locations, it provides you the same convenience with a line 4 station (Connected to Myeongdong and Seoul station) just a very short walk away!Β
