Day 1: Blue Lagoon to Vik

6 AM: Arrive in KEF

- not to be confused with RKV, the domestic airport

- pick up rental car, drive to Blue Lagoon (~30 minutes)

8 AM: Arrive at Blue Lagoon

- eat breakfast + lunch here at the small cafe (you can also head to the restaurant for a sit down meal if you want)

- leave time to shower, change, and blow dry hair if it is cold outside!

12:30 PM: Begin drive to Seljalandsfoss (waterfall)

- on your two-hour journey to this waterfall, stop for coffee and Icelandic snacks from a local gas station - this will help you stay awake! Our favorite Icelandic candy was Tritlar!!

2:30 PM: Arrive at Seljalandsfoss

- you can get close to this waterfall AND walk behind it - be ready with a poncho and any other waterproof gear you have, the wind will blow water on you

- there are more waterfalls if you keep walking to the left (if looking at the large waterfall) - go explore!

3:30 PM: Drive to Skogafoss (waterfall - 30 minute drive)

- once you arrive, snap a picture in front of the waterfall with the black beach!

-optional: walk up the side of the path on the side of the waterfall to see it from the top! (This was an okay view but you just see the top).. this trail also keeps going once you get to the top if you want to hike more

4:00 PM: Drive to Black Sand Beach Reynisfjara for Sunset (30 minute drive)

- observe the cool rock formations and take a walk along the black sand beach - see if you can spot a whale like we did when we were there!

6:00 PM: Head to “The Soup Company” for a warm soup after a long day (~10 minute drive)

8:00 PM: Head to your hotel/airbnb (recommend staying somewhere near Hella, an hour from Vik)

- stop by “Crepes.is” to get a crepe for the drive home - get the crepe with the wafer in it - delicious!

Day 2: The Golden Circle

*Geysir pictured above*

11:00 AM: Drive to Kerid Crater (~40 mins from Hella)

12:30 PM: Eat your packed lunch in the car and drive to Gullfoss (~45 minutes)

- in addition to the powerful waterfall, Gullfoss has a great gift shop if you want to do a little shopping!

2:15 PM: Drive to Geysir (~10 minutes)

- there is one major Geysir - when we were there, it would “explode” every 5 minutes or so!

*If you have time, drive to Thingvellir National Park to see Silfra Fissure: where two Tectonic Plates meet!*

7:00 PM: Stop in Selfoss for dinner at “The Old Dairy Food Hall”

10:00 PM - 2:00 AM Stay up to see if you can catch the Northern Lights

- If you are staying in Reykjavik, see about scheduling a tour to see the Northern Lights! They are really unpredictable but the “Aurora Forecast” was at 2 (out of 10) and we still were able to see them from our Airbnb in Hella!

Day 3: Reykjavik + Sky Lagoon

*Sky Lagoon pictured above*

11:00 AM - 1:30PM Explore Reykjavik downtown (and stop at “Omnom”)

2:00 PM - 4:30 PM Visit Sky Lagoon for the “Skjol Ritual”

- "Skjol Ritual": 7 steps that includes a polar plunge, sauna with a gorgeous and Icelandic view, and more!

4:30 PM: Leave for flight!
