Evansville has a small regional airport located a short drive (approx. 25 minutes) from downtown. It is easy to navigate, and does have a small number of flights that come in daily. While options may be a bit more limited, the connivence of flying directly into town cannot be beat.
For an easy and convenient option fly directly into the Evansville regional airport located just north of town. It is a smaller airport making it super easy to navigate, but they do have limited flight options especially for those coming from smaller cities.

If flying direct to Evansville is not the best option, we also recommend checking out flights into Louisville and then renting a car to drive to Evansville. As a larger, international airport, they are able to offer more daily flight options that might work better for your desired schedule.
Located a 2 hour and 15 minute drive from Evansville, Louisville International is a much larger airport boasting more flexible flight options and sometimes more affordable depending on your flight plan.

Uber and Lyft in Evansville (Ridesharing Apps)
While both Uber and Lyft do exist in Evansville, we ran into multiple situations where we could not get a ride a few times (happened in the morning around 8am, midafternoon around 4pm and once at night around 10:30pm). When we were able to get a ride the drivers were great but there are very limited options (had to wait for most Ubers 15-20 minutes once connected with a driver). We do recommend renting a car in town for easier navigation, especially those with very time specific plans.
If you are visiting during the solar eclipse, there will be a TON of people in town that we REALLY recommend renting a car or just staying downtown where everything is walkable distance. Book your rental car now to make sure it is reserved for your visit.
Where to Stay

Located in downtown Evansville, it is connected to the Ford Center which makes it the perfect stay if you are attending an event there. Easy walking distance to many establishments downtown for food, drinks or fun activities.
Located just west of Downtown Evansville, this area is bustling with tons to see. Breakfast is included and has a good array of options. Close distance to the AMC movie theater.
A fun and free activity to enjoy in the alley just off of Main Street. You can have an entire photo shoot here or enjoy the local murals while strolling through town.
Adoptable kitties and coffee. What more could you want. Come see the cats for $6 for 30 minutes or $8 for an hour. Even if you’re not able to adopt a cat right now, this is the perfect way to help them raise money to save more animals and get your daily cat fix.
Sunset Park West is home to sunset park, the cascade and lovely swinging bench seats. There is easy parking and access to the river trail. Bike, walk, skate board, roller blade, this paved path is perfect for spring and summer weather. It runs right along the river and has a great view of the blooming trees.
Located at the Sunset Park West, this skate park is perfect to enjoy for families or those who just love to skate. A mixture of elements are present. Does have a small bowl.
For those into gambling, there is a Casino located in downtown Evansville. If you can't make it to Las Vegas or Atlantic City, bring the fun right to you while not leaving town. I had friends win a decent amount while we were in town here. Please gamble responsibly and make the best decisions for your personal situation.
Given a recent fresh coat of paint, Santa is looking fresh!

Michigander at heart but currently traveling the world one week at a time for work. When not on the road and living out of my suitcase, I am down to spend the day exploring the local city scene or out hiking in nature. I am an adventurous spirit and try to maximize my free time exploring the hidden corners of whatever city I am in. I've been traveling all over the U.S. and Europe for nine years and crave authentic experiences at local hot spots (and sometimes the touristy faves). As a young and avid traveler (16 Countries, 45 U.S. States, 24 U.S. National Parks & numerous cities) my goal is to help you reach your travel goals - no matter the destination.
On Thatch, I create super detailed guides and itineraries to destinations that I've personally visited. These destinations have a little bit of everything that I love about travel (adventure, city life, great eats, beach days and more). I can also create custom guides and itineraries to wherever you may be dreaming of traveling to.
Top bucket list items: Ride in a hot air balloon, visit all 50 U.S. states, and someday be on the Amazing Race with my sister.
