Day trip near St George, Utah

This itinerary is great to pair with others on my page! This loop can take all day if you do each activity. Spend as much time as you want at each place but be aware of how much time is left before it gets dark.

Things to bring

• drinks

• lunch and snacks

• sturdy shoes with good grip

• jackets / hats / etc. (Based on weather)

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Bring your stuff for sledding!

Whether the dunes are covered in snow or bone dry you can sled down them. You can hike around and explore, we found a waterfall on the mountainside. Be careful for four-wheelers and other vehicles driving fast further out in the dunes. It does get cold in the winter!

A bit of a drive from St George, partway is dirt roads. Easy enough to get to.

Moqui caves

The hike to the sand caves is a bit slippery and steep in some spots. You'll need shoes with good grip. Although I am afraid of heights I was able to do this hike. We saw plenty of young children and older individuals as well.

This is a good spot to take a lunch break and use the bathroom.

The best thing at this spot is the hike up the side of the mountain to the sand caves!

Belly of the dragon

On your way to Zions National Park, you can make a pit stop here. It is a man-made tunnel that goes under the road to accommodate water flow.

On your way back to St George you can drive through Zions and do this nice hike! We saw older individuals and young kids on this hike.

A quick hike that is easier than you think it will be. At the end, you overlook sections of the park, a spectacular view.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a travel blogger (8+ yrs) and have lived in: Utah 🧂, South Florida 🐊, Sharjah UAE 🇦🇪, and Southern California 🌵. I believe strongly in taking advantage of your surroundings and getting to know the area you live in. I love to curate content and materials based on places I know well and have been to myself. I am also an artist and mom. So I love to travel outdoors a lot, be in beautiful spaces, and teach my kids from a young age to enjoy and adapt to these things as well. I think most travel can be "family" travel and that our dream trips can include our kids. But also trips without kids are an absolutely treat!
