Córdoba is a city in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia, and is the capital of the province of Córdoba. It was an important Roman city and a major Islamic center in the Middle Ages making it rich in history.

Visitors to Cordoba can explore the city's many historic landmarks, including the most famous Mosque - Cathedral of Cordoba. It was the epicentre of the many rulers of the city and today is a museum to the Muslim heritage as well as a functioning Cathedral. This city is also known for its stunning side streets and architecture. Numerous museums and a variety of foods to explore.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Would be spring (May and June) and Autumn/Winter (October to December). The days during these periods are long, the temperatures are pleasant.

AIRPORT

Córdoba Airport is located 6 kilometres from the central business district of the city of Córdoba.

BEST WAY TO GET AROUND THE CITY

The best way is to walk as it is a compact city. However there is Metro and you can also use the local buses and taxis if need be depending where you are staying.

I would say a minimum of a 48hours to a week depending on how much you want see and how long you want to spend touring.

SHOPPING

A range of shops are spread across the city where you can purchase anything from traditional Andalusian wear to imported goods from nearby Morocco. You can also visit flea markets, designer shops as well as shopping malls.

SAFETY

Cordoba has a low crime rate however as like any tourist destination pickpockets and scammers are known to operate around the main attractions. So be careful with your valuables.

FAMILY FRIENDLY

Cordoba is very family friendly. With a variety of things to do like the zoo, botanical garden as well as the historical landmarks there is something for everyone.

FOOD

From Homecooked food to fine-dining this city has a place for everyone. So if you are looking for Halal, Vegetarian, Vegan or Non-Halal you will find it here.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Having been a keen traveller since a young age, my childhood was split between Mombasa, Kenya and London, UK. I have travelled as far east as Malaysia, stopping in places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Jordan to then closer to home locations of France, Italy and Scotland. As a young family of four our favourite haunt is along Al-Andalus in Spain. However we are still finding new places to explore with our next new adventure as a family to Istanbul, Turkey. From my guides you will find places that will not only give you an adventure but also that time to rest as a family or couple. Have a taster at some of our favourite halal haunts, sweet treats and budget friendly restaurants. Explore countries and gain a historical outlook so you can really immerse yourself in the cultures. I am an avid writer and have also published some travel articles with online magazine - Amaliah.
