Laptop-friendly Cafés in Madrid
Laptop-friendly Cafés in Madrid
Julianne York
Anyone who has tried to open their laptop at a café in Madrid has experienced the same thing- a server politely walking over and asking you to put it away.
Spaniards take their coffee culture very seriously, and apart of that culture is an atmosphere of extraversion and social space. This culture can make it very hard for university students or digital nomads to find a good place to work, and luckily, many cafés have begun to change their rules.
The following is a list of cafés in the city that will allow you to work at specific tables or specific times during the work week.
Unfortunately I don't think Madrileño coffee shop owners will ever let you open your laptop on a weekend, and considering all libraries are also closed, I'd suggest doing as the Spaniards do, and taking the weekend to relax for yourself <3

Mansilla Libros y Café
@journalofjulianne
Mansilla is my favorite coffee shop in all of Madrid. The atmosphere is so romantic and cosy- from the pink walls to the checkered floors- it is a place close to my heart. Laptop policy is: no working on weekends, and if you bring a laptop you must work at the antique writing desk in the corner. Get some work done listening to 50's Argentinian love songs and the sweetest owners giving you everything you need.

Café Federal

Light and airy with cute window seats. Great co-working spaces with big tables, but make sure your laptop is charged because sockets are limited to window seats. Laptop policy: No working on weekends, and you can only work at specific tables.

Ridiculously cosy, it feels just like home. Ask your server if you may use your laptop before opening it!

Very good cakes and cute decor with sooooo many plants. No weekend work but there is a big co-working table at the front, and a high top in the back with sockets.
