The food scene in Copenhagen is also exceptional, with many restaurants offering delicious Nordic cuisine.
Visitors can explore the city's many museums, galleries, and parks, or simply wander through the charming streets and soak up the atmosphere.
Copenhagen is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.
Day 1
We arrived around lunch time in Copenhagen and headed straight to our hostel. Danhostel Copenhagen is an excellent choice for budget-conscious travellers.
The hostel is located in the heart of the city and is easily accessible by public transportation. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the facilities are well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of amenities on-site, including a restaurant, bar, and laundry facilities.
The hostel also offers a variety of activities and tours, making it a great option for solo travelers or those looking to meet other travellers.
After checking-in, we decided we would go to Islands Brygge. Islands Brygge is a vibrant and picturesque neighborhood located in Copenhagen. The area is known for its scenic waterfront promenade, which offers stunning views of the harbour and the city skyline. During the summer months, it's popular among locals and tourists to swim in the harbor under the sunny skies and so we did!
Shortly after we grabbed dinner at Cocks & Cows which is a popular restaurant in Copenhagen. They do the most delicious burgers so make sure to give them a try!
A popular area for nightlife is the Meatpacking District, which is home to numerous bars and clubs. If you're looking for a more laid-back atmosphere, head to Nørrebro or Vesterbro, where you'll find cosy pubs and relaxed bars. Most places close around 2 AM, but some clubs stay open until the early hours of the morning. When planning to visit night clubs, be aware that many of them have dress codes that may prohibit certain types of clothing such as shorts.
Day 2
After dinner, we hopped back on our bikes and headed to the famous Nyhavn to watch the beautiful sunset.
Day 3
We went out for breakfast and stumbled upon a beautiful cafe that we couldn't resist. To our delight, they served possibly the best breakfast I've ever had.
After having breakfast, I made the decision to explore Malmö. I saw people on TikTok getting a train from Copenhagen to Malmö in only 40 minutes, and it seemed like an exciting adventure. Using Omio, I booked my train for just over £20 return.
The train route crosses the impressive Øresund Bridge, providing stunning views of the surrounding area.
Malmö is a charming and vibrant city with plenty to see and do, from exploring the Old Town to visiting the modern Turning Torso skyscraper.
Later that day we went Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli Gardens is a famous amusement park located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded in 1843 and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. The park is famous for its beautiful gardens, historic architecture, and thrilling rides. Tivoli Gardens also features live entertainment, including concerts, ballets, and theater performances. The park is open year-round and offers something for visitors of all ages. It’s even open until 11pm! We had the best time & tickets were just over £50.
Day 4 - The last day🥺
Following our check-out at 10am, we went to the city to have breakfast and unexpectedly discovered yet another delightful cafe.
Copenhagen is known for its delicious breakfast spots and Kompa9 is no exception. This cosy cafe offers a variety of breakfast options that are both tasty and healthy. Customers can enjoy fresh smoothie bowls, homemade granola, and a variety of toasts with toppings such as avocado, smoked salmon, and hummus. This cafe also offers vegan and gluten-free options. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to start your day. If you're in Copenhagen, be sure to stop by Kompa9 for a breakfast that will leave you feeling satisfied and energised.
We took a stroll and ended up at Freetown Christiania.
This unique neighborhood, located in the heart of the city, operates as an autonomous community known for its alternative lifestyle and liberal values. As I wandered through the streets, I was struck by the colorful graffiti and vibrant murals that adorned the buildings. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, with locals and tourists alike enjoying the many cafes and shops. I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and excitement as I experienced this unconventional way of life..
With only a few hours left and unfavorable weather on our last day, we went to the nearest McDonald's and returned to the hostel's lounge area to wait for our pre-arranged taxi to the airport.
Overall, I would recommend visiting Copenhagen to anyone!
Hope this helps🫶🏼
